One of our favourite times of the year is here and we've got PLENTY of events to celebrate. With a stack of our local legends, parties, events, queens and more, there'll be something for everyone this queer festive season.

Birdcage (Waywards Ballroom) & Saturn Returns (Public Bar)

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, knitting in the evenings or simply prefer the couch to a Wednesday night out, you’ll have heard of Birdcage by now. Let us introduce you to Newtown’s only weekly les & queer party! Drag, DJs and performances until the early hours, our Mardi Gras events are going to be bigger than ever. Every Wednesday from 8pm in Waywards Ballroom. 


 Saturn Returns is your new weekly event inspired by the astrological phenomenon. Saturn Returns invites all queer bodies to join us in navigating this cosmic, chaotic coming-of-age. Every Wednesday in Terrace Bar from 6pm-11pm, with DJs, art & give-aways.

Medusa x Mardi Party (Waywards Ballroom)

Bringing you a sexy, sultry and incredible night full of love and connection, we’re so excited to come together to celebrate our favourite time of year! You can expect sultry performances & a dance floor to match. This is a space to own your power, embrace your confidence and connect with the community.

As always, MEDUSA creates space for trans masc and femme folk, non-binary, gender queer and all queer folx. All orientations, whether bisexual+, Queer lesbian, pansexual, asexual, demi, gay or a straight-identifying trans person inclusively. We welcome the entire spectrum of our beautiful community to embrace their true selves, celebrate their uniqueness, and find solace and joy together.

Expect a lineup of sultry performers, DJs, and our NEW resident host, ASUMA JENDER, curated by us, for us. Every part of this event is powered by our community, from the creative team to the staff.

Queer Screen (Waywards Ballroom)

Queer Screen Film Fest has become a major event that delivers the latest LGBTIQ+ movies to Sydney’s screens. Waywards Ballroom will be hosting a special Mardi Gras screening of Queer Comedy Shorts.

This selection of shorts will make you laugh, finding humour in sibling relationships, first crushes, overcoming mean gays and even racial profiling. Featuring Cathy Moriarty.

YOUR LINE UP & CATEGORIES 🌴

Get ready for a sizzling afternoon on Silky Island, featuring our special international guests commentator Matyouz and DJ Missy Da Kunt giving us a lifeline all the way from Europe.

This is a free ticketed event and fundraiser for the Femme Queens of our community and their gofundme to support their gender affirming surgeries.

Donations will be collected at the door and throughout the day, with all proceeds going directly to the girls’ fundraisers.
